











Mold Making for Ceramics 101
Have you ever wanted to make one thing a lot? Well let me tell you - it’s pretty magical to do so! Mold making is a wonderful but tedious process, helping artists and makers the ability to create multiples, series, or consistent work, and here at Kitte Club we make it simple, giving you a well rounded understanding of molds and their various applications as well as step by step instructions and demonstration on how to make and use them! Each mold you make will be with either found objects of your choice or your own created work, making start to finish a mold you can and will want to continue to cast over and over again!
This is a great way to up your ceramics practice with new and exciting methods!
We take you through:
Mold making History & Applications
Various types of Molds and why each are used
We will be making and working with:
1x 2 Part Plaster Mold
2x Press Molds
1x Drape Mold
Making & Casting Slip
Clean up and additives
Some more creative applications and experiments
You will take home all your molds, and some objects made from them, glazed by you and fired by us!
This course is led by Kitte Club Owner Jes Young. Jes has worked with Mold Making and Ceramics for 10 years - continuing to create artist multiples. They’ve taught multiple mold making classes including Mold Making at York U and consistently use mold making techniques in their artistic practice. They are always excited to share mold making with folk who are new to this practice.
Duration: This is an 7 week course, Tuesday nights 5:30 - 8:30p, July 8 - August 19
Cost: $525 +HST, includes enrolment, all materials and firings
Spots: This is an intimate class with only 6 spots available
