Bringing Pals (a guest(s)) Into the Studio FAQ

Can I bring a pal to the studio?

Absolutely! We love when friends and family want to play with some clay!

If you do bring in a pal you are responsible for them while they are in the studio, the work they create and their work fired in the kiln as your studio guest. This means showing proper studio protocol (handling tools, cleaning, putting things away, storing their work in progress, properly putting work for firing on the correct shelves, etc - everything you should be doing as a member). Firing costs and any damages will be sent to you, and non-members firing rates are $32.50 per shelf (prorated as always).

You may bring in up to 2 pals with you at a time. If you want to bring in more please reach out to Jes to schedule.

You may not share door codes or members passwords with them.

To bring a pal that will be using studio facilities and equipment you must:

  • Book out a session for your pal(s) for the type of session they want to do (i.e wheel or handbuilding) Please write your name and then their name in parenthesis (i.e Jes Young, Suki the Pup)

  • You must book out a session per pal as above (if you are bringing more than 1 pal)

  • Each pal must sign a waiver before working in the studio (found in the top navigation)

What do I need to do to bring a pal?

To pay for a pal’s session you have 2 options:

  1. If you have 2 or more remaining sessions for that month your pal can use one of your remaining sessions (please indicate this in the “anything to add” section of the session booking (i.e taking 1 of my monthly sessions).

  2. Pay for a “Pal’s Pass / Additional Session” on the members page by EOD of the session.

How do I pay for my pal’s session?

Great, they do not need to sign up for a session, but if table space is needed for other members please let those working take over the space if needed!

What if my pal is company, not doing studio things?

With your help! Either share some or you can purchase some for them on the members page and grab like usual (you can also open the members page when you are together and select the clay type, amount and pay for the guest studio session in 1 go > they can put in their card details on checkout)

How does my pal get clay?

Please make sure to add your pal’s maker’s mark to our list (on the back of the fridge) and please leave a note on your pal’s pieces with your name as well. Your pal’s firings will be deducted from your kiln allowance and or added to your firing as an additional cost if you are over your allowance (i.e it counts as your work being fired)

How about firing for my pal?

If you have a pal looking for outside firing but are not coming in as a member or member’s pal or interested in a studio session please have them contact me through the contact page to facilitate outside firing.

How about if I have a pal who just wants firing done?
